Honda S2000

Honda S2000

The S2000 was Honda's attempt to get into the popular open top performance car market dominated by the likes of the Porsche Boxster and Lotus Elise. The S2000 had a great pedigree behind it with Formula One success and the highly acclaimed NSX road car as a stable mate. Performance was thrilling with a rev limit of over 9000rpm but ultimately the S2000 proved to be a bit of a dissapointment.

The high revving engine was superb but it needed almost all of those revs before the car really started to move, and when it did handling was not up the expected standards, offering the driver a poor level of steering feedback. A lot of fun on the track but hard work on the road.

Revised in 2002, the new S2000 addressed many of the original's faults but retains an unfulfilled potential.
