The super-exotic Koenigsegg CC8s is claiming to be the world's fastest
production car with acceleration to 60mph in 3.1sec and a maximum speed
approaching 245mph. However, these claims have not been matched in
recent independent tests. Although Koenigsegg assert that test cars were
down on power?!
The first prototype appeared back in 1995 with
the fully developed near production car surfacing at the Paris Motor
Show of 2000. Advanced electronic aids abound, with ride height, chassis
and braking characteristics all driver adjustable from the cockpit,
helping to make the CC a consummate handler. The carbon fibre monocoque
and chassis help keep weight down to a modest 1275kg, going some way to
justifying the beautifully finished CC's £366k price tag.
