With a
welcome power boost to nearly 200bhp, the new turbo-charged Vauxhall
VX220 looks set to become the fastest accelerating £25k sportscar
around.
The uprated 2.0 litre turbo unit from the Astra allows
the VX220 to break the magical 5 seconds 0-60mph barrier and , perhaps
more importantly, outrun all versions of it's nearest rival, the Lotus
Elise. Handling is as before, excellent, but not quite up to the very
highest standards of the Elise.
Looks remain faithful to the
original but can be distinguished by a rear spoiler and larger new style
alloy wheels. Lotus will again build the new model alongside it's own
Elise.
